As a team, committed five errors in the loss. Came back from a 4-1 deficit and scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to make it 4-4, fell behind 7-4 in the bottom of the fifth, and eventually tied the game in the seventh to force extra innings. Took an 8-7 lead in the eighth, but South Vineland tied the game with a two-out single. South Vineland won on a sacrifice fly in the ninth... Had 13 hits – five of them doubles – in 7-5 win over East Park. Pitchers walked eight East Park hitters... Needed to defeat Maine District 3’s Bangor East/West on the final day of pool play for a semifinal berth. Heading into the sixth inning against Bangor East/West, had a 3-0 lead with starting pitcher Stewart Cartwright in command. Cartwright had given up only one hit through five innings and had faced the minimum number of batters through the fifth. He then gave up three consecutive hits in the top of the sixth as Bangor East/West scored twice, to make it 3-2 West University. Cartwright reached his pitch count limit after retiring the lead-off batter in the seventh and giving up a single. Reliever Andrew Waters proceeded to give up a two-run home run to Josiah Hartley, giving Bangor East/West a 4-3 lead. West University got the tying run to third and the winning run to second with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t score... As a team, hit .339 with 10 doubles... Committed only six errors in 140 total chances (.957 percentage)...
