Notes
|
|
This was Whalley’s second consecutive trip to a Bangor World Series and third overall. The 2004 and 2007 teams each went 2-2... Chris Brien, Carsen Nylund, and Adam Quan were the only players to return from the 2007 team... Three out of five games were decided by a single run... This was the first time a team from Canada advanced to the semifinals in a Bangor World Series... Because of rain, had to play two games on Aug. 14 – a makeup game against East Boynton at 9 a.m. (a 3-2 loss) and a regularly scheduled game against Pearl City at 2 p.m. (a 2-1 win)... 2-1 win over Pearl City was the first time a team from Canada had defeated a U.S. West team in a Bangor World Series in seven tries. It also snapped the U.S. West’s Bangor World Series streak of six consecutive semifinal berths... Lost 1-0 in the semifinals to eventual World Series champ North Cumberland on a triple and an error in the first inning. The triple was the only hit starting pitcher Nylund would give up in five innings, and the only hit North Cumberland would get... The 1-0 loss to North Cumberland took only 1 hour, 18 minutes to play...
