1-0 loss to Pearl City came on a walk-off, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh. Entering the seventh, the pitching staff had held Pearl City to only one hit. Martinez-Evans hitters were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 runners on base... 10-0 win over Canada was in five innings via the 10-run rule... 2-1 win over ILLAM Central came on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh that broke a 1-1 tie... Martinez-Evans was the second consecutive U.S. Southeast team to make the semifinal round after the region experienced a semifinal drought from 2009-2012. South Beaches/Greater West Melbourne L.L., Brevard County, Fla., appeared in the 2012 semifinals, losing to eventual World Series champ Juvenil de Guatemala L.L., Guatemala City, Guatemala... Down to its last strike in the top of the seventh against Chitre in the semifinals, got a game-tying single from Kyle Cartledge just over the first baseman’s glove. Took a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth before Chitre tied the score. Took a 4-3 lead in the 12th before Chitre tied the score on a wild pitch and then won on the catcher’s errant throw to the pitcher. The game was the second longest in Bangor World Series history in terms of innings (11 5/6), but the longest by far in terms of time, at 4 hours, 6 minutes. This was the game in which manager Matt Brosious challenged the legality of the bat brought to the plate in the first inning by Luis Alonso. The plate umpire ruled the bat illegal, resulting in Alonso being called out and ejected, along with Chitre manager Azael Dominguez Dominguez... The pitching staff’s ERA was 1.13 and WHIP 1.10. Opponents hit only .222. Pitchers threw first-pitch strikes 65.2 percent of the time... At the plate, Wilfredo Colon-Rios accounted for seven of the team’s 22 bases on balls...
