The first U.S. East team from Pennsylvania to play in a Bangor World Series... 11-1 win over Emilia was in five innings via the 10-run rule. The lineup was 10-for-21 with runners in scoring position... Hit .343 as a team, but .367 with two outs and .360 with runners in scoring position... The pitching staff allowed only 16.7 percent of lead-off batters to reach base... Led Clear Ridge only 4-3 before erupting for five runs in the top of the seventh in 9-4 win over the U.S. Central champ... Led 3-0 in its pool play game against Chitre before Chitre scored four runs in the fourth. Lost catcher Eric Duerr when Javier Garcia slid late into home plate in the top of the seventh inning. Duerr suffered whiplash and a concussion, but held onto the ball for the out. As an ambulance took Duerr to the hospital, one of his teammates picked up his glove and found the ball still in it. Duerr’s father, manager Todd Duerr, presented him with the ball, signed by his teammates, before the championship game against Chitre... Led Pearl City 4-3 in the semifinals before scoring five runs in the top of the seventh for a 9-4 win... Led Chitre 1-0 in the championship game before Chitre scored two runs in the top of the sixth for the 2-1 win. Chitre’s winning run scored on a passed ball. It is the only Bangor World Series title game decided by one run and the lowest-scoring Bangor World Series title game... Drew Jarmuz was among the top hitters in the series, tying for the top batting average (.500), topping all hitters with 10 base hits, tying for the lead in doubles (2), coming second with most total bases (12), tying for first with most hit by pitches (3), placing second with most stolen bases (4) and runs (7) leading in on-base percentage (.615), among other categories... Despite missing two games, Duerr tied for most doubles (2), tied for third in most total bases (9), and had the eighth highest slugging percentage (.533)... On the mound, Alex Pechin was among series leaders in ERA, innings pitched, complete games, WHIP, opponents batting average, and pick-offs...
