The first Bangor World Series championship for the U.S. Southwest region... Kept chipping away at deficits of 3-0 and 8-3 on the final day of pool play against West Madison National, winning 9-8 and securing a semifinal berth. Had West University lost the game, it would have lost the three-way (West University, South Vineland, and West Madison would have each been 2-2) head-to-head tiebreaker to West Madison, which had beaten South Vineland... Jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the championship game against Niles-Centerville, scoring three runs when the first five batters reached base. Built a 7-0 lead after 3 ½ innings, but had to endure a six-run Niles-Centerville rally in the bottom of the fourth before tacking on two runs in the sixth. Niles-Centerville scored another run in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on second and winning run on first when the game ended... Michael Resnick hit three home runs during pool play and added a grand slam in the semifinals, giving him four homers for the series. Two of his home runs came against Aruba South. He finished the series 7-for-14 (.500) with 22 total bases and nine RBIs. He walked five times and was hit four times. His on-base percentage was .696, slugging percentage 1.571, and OPS 2.267... Travis Gauntt went 10-for-21 (.476) in the series, with three doubles and a triple, and only one strikeout... Cole Lankford went 4-for-4 with a double and a home run in the championship game, driving in four runs... John Williamson gave up only one hit in 8 1/3 innings pitched over the course of two games. He struck out 11, but walked seven. Opposing hitters batted only .037 against him...
