If you attended the 2008 Senior League World Series, please take a moment to tell us what you thought...
Bangor, Maine, is once again the host of Little League’s Senior League Baseball World Series. Senior League Baseball is a division of Little League Baseball for players ages 14 through 16. The series features regional champions from U.S. East, U.S. South, U.S. Central, U.S. Southwest, U.S. West, Canada, Latin America, Europe-Middle East-Africa, and Asia-Pacific. The host district champion – Maine District 3 – also gets a berth.
The 10 teams are split into two pools of five teams each. Each team plays four games in pool play over the course of five days. The top two teams from each pool advance to the semifinal round, with the winners of the semifinals playing for the world championship in front of a worldwide audience on ESPNU.
This year’s series will kick off with opening ceremonies at Shawn T. Mansfield Stadium on Aug. 15. Pool play begins on Aug. 16 and will run through Aug. 20, with the semifinals on Aug. 21 and the championship on Aug. 22.
Check back often for more information on opening ceremony events, ticket information, and team information.
What to bring
Don’t let Maine’s northern location fool you: summer temperatures can reach the mid-80s and even 90s, with high humidity. Evening temperatures can be anywhere from the 60s to low-70s. Bring shorts, pants, a light jacket, and sun screen. Depending on your tolerance level, you may need insect repellant for evening games.
